The only commercial airport in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is located at Port Blair, the capital city, which is well-connected by air and sea and is referred to as the islands' entry point.
It is the story of any other Indian city. Its streets are lined with stores, restaurants, hotels, and resorts. Aside from that, it is also heavily laden with history—but not just any history—the history of our struggle for freedom.
The British primarily utilized it, under the name Kaalapani, to deport political prisoners from India. Currently, it is the main hub for all tourism-related activity in the Islands and the most popular tourist destination.
Owing to the volume of tourists using Port Blair, the island boasts the greatest selection of hotels and staycations, with accommodations to suit every budget.
The island offers a wide variety of water sports, from more advanced options like parasailing and scuba diving to more accessible options like jet skiing and snorkeling.
As the center, Port Blair provides transportation by road and ferry to all of the other Andaman islands that are accessible to tourists. Baratang, Rangat, Mayabunder, and Diglipur are all directly connected by road in the North Andaman, albeit some routes are quicker to take by ferry. While boats mostly operate from the Phoenix Bay Jetty to connect Havelock Island and Neil with other tourist locations in the islands, the Aberdeen Jetty links Port Blair with other islands such as North Bay Island, Ross Island, and Viper Island.
